The Games you've played lately

Post by Alex Steiner on Wed Aug 18, 2010 10:09 am

I've been playing StarCraft and Dwarf Fortress, both of which are awesome.

I especially recommend DF, just get a tutorial, it's still hasn't got a built-in help or easy mode.

I heard that has bad graphics (without a mod).

I also heard it has a bad ending.

Oh, and there's a bunch of idiots trolling the multiplayer.

No, I'm not antisocial, I just hate humanity.

Today in DF I was terrorised by Uja Cishkular, a gigantic feathered hare. It has wings and it undulates rhythmically. Its pumpkin [coloured] feathers are long and sparse. Beware its webs!

It emerged from the newly unsealed caverns and ate by best miner. I had to build over the endless stair to save the rest of my fortress. It's still down there, eating trolls and cave crocodiles. I'll do something about it eventually.

Oh, as you may have guessed, my friend "Uja the Ashen Night" (as my dwarves have dubbed her) was procedurally generated. You won't be meeting her in any caverns of your own, but you might find something useful like a Slush Banshee.

I don't get it ... and that picture quality is horrific ... probably not worth the download.

Transformice.

The aim is simple: Get the cheese.

Your only enemy: The human condition.

Hilarious game. Google it.

Also: NationStates. The Alien Colony of Capasinia is still alive, and ejecting and banning myself would consume about half my influence in the region.

"Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War" and expansions. Pretty cool.
I used to play as Necrons, but I kept getting rushed. Now I've been playing Eldar (beat the campaign); they've got pretty good abilities.

That's what we do here, right; wax lyrical about our own prowess?

I believe MineCraft has been mentioned. I prefer Dwarf Fortress.

I tried a bit of Minecraft creative, but it just seemed too much effort to do scaffolding and build stuff.

I suppose that's where the pressure and limits of the other version make it interesting.

MAGICKA

MAGICKA!!!!

Just buy it. Seriously. PvP just got updated, it is awesome. I've played 50 hours in a few weeks. It is sooo good.

4 player co-op, 13 stage campaign, Vietnam expansion (because why not), and now deathmatch/brawl pvp.

$10 is normal, but it goes on special to $3 or so in some places.

MAGICKA

Fable: 3 for PC.

Upset because there is a major lack in modding for it. Not only was pc released months after 360, but there are massive amounts of walls put in place BY THE DEVELOPERS to prevent modding!

Didn't they get told the reason fable tlc was so popular was the fun of adding your own features? Bah I refuse to pay for a game until it is either bug free or modable.
