This fort is in mid-autumn year 2. I'm not using a tileset, so showing you my friend Uja the winged hare (or her prey, the trolls) wouldn't be very enlightening.

I have not had any invaders yet, just elves complaining about my wood use and trying to sell me cheap cloth and aforementioned underground denizens eating my miners. I'm in the process of overhauling my production, so stockpiles are messy and I'm missing some workshops. Once it's done it'll be much more efficient (booze stockpiles everywhere).

If you want the game, there's the basic download here, or I recommend the Lazy Newb Pack from here (it has some tilesets and a bunch of helpful programs, as well as instructions). A must for new players is the wiki. Look up any tutorials also. There's an incomplete one here which covers the very basics not covered in most others. If you're really lazy (or confident), there's a flowchart here. I'll even add it to the gallery here.

I didn't get it ... couldn't farm ... it said i need mud ... which is left by water ... so i mined into water ... flooded all mah tunnels

I didn't bother with underground farms until my third year.

Protip: Use a pond on the floor above and your dwarves will use buckets to water the ground. Look up irrigation on the DF wiki.

That sounds awesome, how'd you manage that? How could you lose 90 in that short space of time?

traders weren't happy about there many losses, so i lock my dwarves in the hall while my traps did there thing. a lever was pulled(my fault), lava flooded the lower 15 floors(aka my strip mine and trap levels) and killed my 16 miners, my army saw this and went mad, while i was looking at the nice little raiders at my gates melting, my army broke into my hall and slaughtered the lot, to many notifications about my slaves not dumping items for me to notice until it was too late. by the time i was there it was over [sob] there was so much blood, so many corpses! and then someone opens the front gate! it was over. sorry no pics i had no time.

The announcement list and combat reports (a and r respectively) would be cool.

I never got a shot of my completed dining hall, it's stained with the blood of my fortress.

Hmm my newest world has above ground tower/mazes filled with goblins

what I Do next is up to you. (I have sealed them in for now)

A. Let them in when the merchants are not looking
B. Attack them as soon as my army is ready (3 dwarves with legendary skills)
C. Ignore them

Yay interactive df.

If i get interest i may offer choices on other issues as they arise.

My dining room is awash with the blood of my dwarves.

So is my storage, and my farm, and my bedrooms. The whole fort in fact. It's on a quick, yet painfully slow, death spiral.

Some idiot was terrified by goblins. Combined with a very unhappy dwarf asking for cloth = death of fortress.

It happened wayyy to fast for either. I had z levels worth of stone sitting there. Gold gems wood. But no he wants cloth. On a damn glacier. How heck do I get thatwithout going splunking into the cavens.
